Shapes and stencils

The Shapes window holds stencils: collections of masters you drag onto the page. Larrygram ships two stencils of its own, drawn for the project:

Stencil Masters
Basic Shapes (12) Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle, Ellipse, Triangle, Right Triangle, Diamond, Pentagon, Hexagon, Octagon, Star, Arc, Line
Basic Flowchart (9) Process, Alternate Process, Decision, Terminator, Data, Document, Manual Operation, Preparation, Connector

Each master carries connection points for connectors and shape data (for example a Label or Process name and a Cost).

Stencils inside a .vsdx file you open are kept and saved with the file. To open a stencil file on its own, open a .vssx (see Opening and saving).

  • Cut, copy, paste and duplicate with Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V and Ctrl+D.
  • Group with Ctrl+G and ungroup with Ctrl+Shift+U. Double-click a group to work inside it.
  • Align left, center, right, top, middle or bottom, and distribute horizontally or vertically.
  • Order: Bring to Front (Ctrl+Shift+F), Bring Forward, Send Backward and Send to Back (Ctrl+Shift+B).

Visio shapes keep their geometry and behavior in ShapeSheet cells and formulas. Larrygram reads and saves every cell. Its formula engine is in progress: it already parses 976 of the 994 distinct formulas in the project’s test corpus, but it is not yet used while you edit.
